What is the CPLP™?
The Certified Professional in Learning and Performance™ (CPLP™) offered by the ASTD Certification Institute (CI) offers workplace learning and performance (WLP) professionals an opportunity to enhance credibility and prove value in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

What is Certification?
Professional certification is voluntary. The credentialing organization establishes a system to recognize professionals who have met certain certification standards. Certified individuals may publicize their credentials by using initials after their names. For example, a Certified Public Accountant is entitled to use the CPA designation.
 

CPLP Scholarship Program!

The Fort Lauderdale Chapter of ASTD is announcing the launch of a CPLP Scholarship Program! The program provides funds to be used by deserving chapter members towards the completion of the CPLP certification process. Two (2) scholarships of $500 each will be awarded annually as long as funds are available.

Through this program we hope to engage the current and future leaders in the workplace learning and performance profession.

The Fort Lauderdale Chapter of ASTD wants to support and encourage you in the process. Based on feedback received from potential and current candidates, as well as the VP of Professional Development’s experiences (both as a candidate and as a study group “leader” after becoming certified), the following support services are being provided through the chapter:

• Access to the chapter’s ASTD Learning System and Flash Cards.

• Participation in Candidate Peer Review/Info Sharing Sessions (a.k.a. study group)

  A critical aspect of mastering new knowledge is active involvement in the collection, analysis, application, and synthesis of the material. The study group sessions will therefore be structured to be led and facilitated by the candidates, with the support of the ASTD Leaders Guide, CPLP Learning System and Flash Cards, as well as coaching from the VP of Professional
  Development.
   
  As a supplement to your independent study, these sessions provide a chance to reinforce knowledge through discussion, clarification of key points, and completing sample test questions. The intent of the sessions is to review the topic and the independent study completed by each candidate.

  • Each session will have a designated topic and candidate-leader.
  • The Leader’s Guide, ASTD Learning System, and Flash Cards for the topic will be given to that session’s leader for preparation and use during the session.
  • All candidates will complete independent study on the topic before the session, and write 3-5 sample test questions on the topic to bring to each session.
  • During sessions, any unanswered questions or concerns will be recorded to be reviewed with the VP of Professional Development at the monthly “Ask a CPLP” session.

• Participation in monthly “Ask a CPLP” sessions prior to regularly scheduled chapter meetings

Prior to monthly chapter meetings, a Q&A on the past month’s study group topics will be held with the VP of Professional Development, and/or other CPLP certified chapter members. This will be an opportunity to clarify concerns, bring CPLP experiences into your preparation, and continue to offer you encouragement and support. Between scheduled Q&A’s, the VP of Professional Development can be reached with questions via email at prof_dev@astdftl.org.

• Participation in Strategic Sessions to support you in creating your personalized preparation plan, prepare you to sit for the knowledge exam, and support you in selecting and submitting your work product.
